The Dana Hills boys and girls wrestling team have fought hard through setbacks, challenges and burdens this season. Their league record doesn’t truly show their hard work, grit and determination to the grind, after losing a majority of wrestlers to the past senior class. Head coach Ken Workman says “Coming off of last year‘s highly successful season the wrestling team has struggled in league this year.” The reason for this is that a large number of seniors graduated last year and the team is composed mainly of sophomores and juniors. They anticipated this setback however, and knew the season would have many bumps, and ultimately did not quit. Girls are also mainly freshman and sophomores. Despite the team’s lack of success in league competitions, 10 wrestlers from Dana are moving onto CIF individual.” Junior Allen Morales, a wrestler in the 106 weight class for the dolphins, is most “Looking forward to placing top five in CIF and wrestling at Masters.” Head coach Workman stated that while this year was a rebuilding year, he has high hopes for the team and his sights set on a league championship next year. Through early morning practices, tough weekend tournaments, and constant adjustments in the lineup, the team has continued to grow closer and stronger, building a foundation for future success. Their resilience has inspired younger athletes and reignited belief throughout the entire Dana Hills community this competitive winter season together. Their season has come to an end and they are now moving onto the CIF sea view league, where they will be playing on February 13.
