Homecoming took place on October 11th of this year at our very own Dana Hills High School. Tickets started at $65 with an ASU card and $75 without, and gradually rose to $100 at the door. The dance itself had various activities, such as a photobooth, a swing ride and a popsicle truck. Doors to the dance opened at 7, closed at 8 and the dance officially ended at 10 pm. The homecoming game itself took place on October 10th, and the Dolphins played Orange, and won with a score of 49-28. At the game’s halftime, each grade level performed a themed dance choreographed by the Dana Hills Dance Production team. This year’s theme was “Podchella”, a play on the popular Coachella music concert, and each grade level was assigned their very own music festival. Freshmen were Ohana Fest, sophomores were Stagecoach, juniors were Rolling Loud, and seniors were Coachella. This was the first year painted backgrounds weren’t used in the halftime show, a result of the PVC pipes’ growing instability, making it a safety hazard.. Instead, white screens were brought out and a background was then projected onto the screen. After the dance was performed, the Homecoming Queen and King were announced: Sydney Freeborn and J.J. Arreola. The other candidates for queen were Paige Miller, Zara Baxendale, Mia Lagestee, Sarah Gholson, Lexie Spina, and the candidates for king included Nolan Mundy, Charlie Chiaverini, Charlie Eckl, Grant Hudson, and Abram Garfinkle. The initial voting for the top 30 opened up at 8 a.m. on September 8th, and commenced on September 15th. On September 17th, the boys were announced at lunch via a cohort of western dancers. The top 15 boys consisted of Creed Collings, J.J. Arreola, Brody DaPena, Thompson Foulger, Nolan Mundy, Grant Hudson, Luke Hanley, Abram Garfinkle, Charlie Chiaverini, Jaiden Guzman, Colton Wall, Tyler Daems, Evan Weiss, Charlie Eckl and Alex Baxendale. The initial top 15 girls included Anna Scott, Angeli Dresnin, Paige Miller, Hadley Fox, Audrina Mason, Anna Fazzalaro, Zara Baxendale, Mia Lagestee, Sarah Gholson, Lexie Spina, Ella Macy, Brooklyn May, London Hills and Sydney Freeborn. Voting for the King and Queen was open from October 18th to October 24th.
