Horror Nights: Universal Studios Scares

By Moneli Nazeri

On September 4, 2025, I had the chance to attend opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, and it was easily one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a theme park. Compared to the last time I went back in 2023, this year felt bigger, scarier, and overall more enjoyable. From the mazes to the rides, everything came together to make the night unforgettable and absolutely worth going back. One of the most talked-about additions this year was the Terrifier maze, inspired by the cult horror film. The design team nailed the disturbing atmosphere, and the scares inside felt nonstop and reminded me why Halloween Horror Nights has such a strong reputation. Right after, we went through the Five Nights at Freddy’s maze, which was just as impressive. The animatronic scares and eerie video game details made it stand out, especially for fans who grew up with the franchise. Another highlight was the Terror Tram. This year’s version turned the backlot into a full horror playground. Walking through areas of the Universal backlot usually reserved for movies made it feel immersive, and it offered a perfect break between rides and mazes. Speaking of rides, one of the best surprises of the night was how short the wait times were. This year it felt like we could just walk onto most attractions. Overall, my experience at Halloween Horror Nights 2025 wasn’t just good, it was better than ever. I’m already planning to go again.
