Scream for Scream 7

By: Ivan

After missing the sixth installment of the popular Scream franchise, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now known as Sidney Evans, returns for the seventh film, Scream 7. Our main character has been hunted, attacked, and terrorized by the infamous Ghostface since she was 17. In the newest movie, the franchise introduces many new characters—often referred to as suspects—including Sidney’s oldest daughter, Tatum, named after Sidney’s friend who was murdered by the original Ghostface duo in the 1996 film. This installment takes place in Pine Grove, where Sidney lives a more normal and protected life, owning a local coffee shop while staying prepared for anything. She has finally settled down with her husband, Mark Evan (Joel McHale), the town’s chief of police, and her daughter Tatum Evans (Isabel May)—or so they thought. The movie incorporates modern technology such as video surveillance systems, cell phone calls instead of landlines, and artificial intelligence, which becomes a major factor in building suspense and mystery. The film also brings back several actors who previously played major characters, including killers from earlier movies like Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard) from the original Scream, Nancy Loomis (Laurie Metcalf) from Scream 2, and Roman Bridger (Scott Foley) from Scream 3. In this film, Ghostface uses fewer classic knife kills and instead leans into a more Friday the 13th–style approach, using the environment to commit violent murders. The movie is recommended for fans of the horror genre and those who enjoy franchises like Halloween, previous Scream films, Urban Legend, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and other slasher‑mystery movies. It is a fun and nostalgic watch for long‑time fans of the series.
