The 2026 Oscars took place at the Dolby Theatre, celebrating the best films released the previous year. Hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, the ceremony brought together some of the biggest names in entertainment for one of the most talked‑about nights of the season. Broadcast on ABC and Hulu, the show lasted nearly four hours and drew millions of viewers worldwide.

The night’s biggest winner was One Battle After Another, which took home six awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson. These wins marked some of Anderson’s first Oscar victories after years of nominations, making the film’s success one of the standout stories of the evening.

Leading up to the ceremony, much attention centered on Timothée Chalamet, who was nominated for Best Actor for his role in Marty Supreme. His nomination followed controversy after comments he made that were perceived as shading ballet and opera, according to BBC reporting. Despite the buzz, he left the ceremony without any awards.

Instead, Michael B. Jordan won Best Actor for his dual role in Sinners, while Jessie Buckley earned Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet. In the supporting categories, Sean Penn won Best Supporting Actor for One Battle After Another, and Amy Madigan won Best Supporting Actress for Weapons.

A historic moment came when Autumn Durald Arkapaw won Best Cinematography for Sinners, becoming the first woman and the first Black cinematographer to win the award.

Overall, the 2026 Oscars delivered a night full of memorable wins, surprises, and milestones. While not every outcome pleased fans, the ceremony highlighted the creativity, dedication, and evolving landscape of the film industry.
